Surrounded by ancient redwood forests and lush landscapes, Mill Valley is a magical California town with a charming European feel. This idyllic country setting is a huge draw for homeowners who seek the simple life, and after seeing this modern farmhouse featured in San Francisco Cottages & Gardens, we can totally see why. Architect Ken Linsteadt worked closely with designer Patrick Printy to ensure the interior celebrated the provincial environment. This meant embracing the outdoors and using mostly natural materials throughout. The homeowners were after a "Connecticut farmhouse feel," and this modern take on New England country style really nails that aesthetic with its raw beams across the ceiling and panelling around the fireplace. The color palette embraces a contemporary feel with mostly neutral shades of white and subtle earthy tones that further highlight the warm natural wood of the reclaimed oak floor and ceiling beams. We're suddenly craving the country life.
