Oscar-winning costume designer Catherine Martin, who's responsible for the glitzy and gorgeous interiors of Gatsby, has teamed up with New Zealand-based textile company Mokum to debut a range of wallpaper and fabric inspired by the Art Deco film. Bringing Martin's theatrical style to residential interiors, the new Metropolis collection includes two sumptuous velvets: one, a graphic jacquard inspired by Art Deco architectural decoration, and another, a bold Chinoiserie-inspired peony print. Five luxurious wallpapers featuring metallic inks and foils and textural surfaces, were design to coordinate. Since design in the visually rich pre-war age left no detail behind, naturally, the collection also features two elegant trims: Charleston Pearls Ribbon recalls the baubles worn by swing-dancing ladies of the era and Metropolis Ribbon features masculine geometry with a threads of lustrous metallics. We'd love to see Mokum's architectural wallpaper in a jewel-box powder room, but we think Jay Gatsby would elect for an interior dripping in the designs. Find your nearest Mokum showroom here.
