Fall is only just beginning, but if you find yourself in need of a fun getaway already, you're in luck. A new study conducted by WalletHub has officially determined 2017's most fun cities in America, Business Insider reports. The city that took the number spot? Las Vegas, Nevada.
If you're wondering how exactly one might go about measuring how fun a city is, WalletHub looked at 58 factors across 150 of the largest U.S. cities. They measured cities based on three categories: entertainment and recreation, nightlife and parties, and the costs of these activities. Researchers looked at specific metrics in each category, measuring things like the highest number of festivals, restaurants, and dance clubs per capita, along with average beer and movie prices and bar accessibility.
What resulted is a virtual itinerary for anyone looking for a quick escape from their routine (no cross-continental travel required). Grab a few friends and plan a trip to these merriment-inducing cities where the bars are close and the recreational activities are boundless.
At the top of the list are Las Vegas, Nevada; Orlando, Florida; New York, New York; Miami, Florida; Portland, Oregon; Atlanta, Georgia; San Francisco, California; New Orleans, Louisiana; Chicago, Illinois; and San Diego, California. Other honorable mentions that made the top 20 are Los Angeles, California, Cincinnati, Ohio; St. Louis, Missouri; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Austin, Texas.
