Every year, the World Luxury Hotel Awards names the number one hotel that epitomizes opulence, from five-star service to impeccable restaurant offerings and unparalleled interior design. The 2016 recipient of the coveted title has been announced—but images of the über-luxe hotel have divided critics.
This year's prestigious title went to The Armani Hotel Dubai, an extravagant resort situated in Dubai's iconic Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The hotel comprises 160 guest rooms, which occupy the first eight floors of the skyscraper, Elle Decor reports.
The judging panel declared it "reflects the pure elegance, simplicity and sophisticated comfort that defines Giorgio Armani's signature style," but the minimalist interior design wasn't what we expected. Simple and understated, the checkerboard-patterned suites lack the opulence of its rivals, such as Le Meurice Paris.
The Armani Hotel Dubai's five-star services explain the rave reviews: According to the Telegraph, each guest is assigned a "Lifestyle Manager" or personal butler service on arrival. Facilities include a pool with a suntrap terrace, thermal spa, and the signature Armani/Ristorante with world-class Italian fare.
