It's officially engagement season, according to the wedding experts over at Zola who determined that 40% of couples get engaged between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day. In an effort to help the many newly engaged couples plan their weddings, the registry site surveyed over 750 newly married couples to identify their top spending wishes and regrets.
Interestingly enough, 35% of the couples surveyed wished they had hired a videographer for their big day. "Your wedding day can go by so quickly that the best way to savor everything is to hire a videographer," said Jennifer Spector, Zola's Newlywed-at-Large, of the survey results. "Your photographer might already have a videographer on their team or recommend someone they like working with to help capture the big day without getting in the way. That way you can focus on the celebration and relive the details for years to come!"
What's more is that 20% of couples wished they'd hired a wedding planner, while 17% wishes they'd stressed less about hiring the "perfect" vendors for the event. Additionally, most couples felt they had overspent on flowers, décor, hair and makeup, catering, day-of wedding attire, and invitations, while the band/DJ, photographer and videographer, and day-of wedding coordinator were well worth the funds.
