DOSSIER: NAME: Nicole Cari and Jacob Soboroff. TRADE: Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Band of Outsiders and host of YouTube Nation, respectively. VIBE: Cozy, warm, and modern. ABODE: Two-bedroom, two-bath home in Echo Park, Los Angeles.
For Nicole Cari, VP of Marketing and Communications at Band of Outsiders, developing an interest in interiors was an expected circumstance. "I think when you care about clothes and fashion, it's just a natural progression or connection to care about home design as well," she says. That said, it didn't happen overnight. "I've probably been into it since I had my own home after college," she says. "But it's evolved a lot since then. I'm constantly tweaking, and I think my style is becoming more sophisticated as I get older and mature." When Cari tied the knot about two years ago, her design style took another leap, she tells us. "I think a real turning point was getting married and doing my registry and sort of starting to receive my dream items for my house." About a year ago, Cari and her husband, YouTube Nation host Jacob Soboroff moved into a modern, industrial home in Echo Park, Los Angeles -- the perfect venue for their beautiful new wedding gifts.

Soboroff "had a quite a few amazing pieces from Design Within Reach," before he met Cari, which the couple augmented with items from Cisco Home, Shabby Chic, and "a sprinkling of antique items," from LA's Rose Bowl Flea Market and Lawson Fenning. Some of the most meaningful pieces are were made by their former landlord, LA artist Jed Lind. "We had lived in his previous house in Silver Lake, and we purchased the desk and outdoor dining set from home," she says.

Complementing the couple's mix of antique, handmade, and retail-ready finds are bohemian throw pillows and a soulful mix of accents, including a vintage find from Soboroff's father. "He has a crazy typewriter collection that actually has been written up in the LA Times and is in a museum," she says. "His signature is to gift his five kids really historic and cool vintage typewriters." A record player, which the couple uses often, adds to the nostalgia: "We love receiving records as gifts, and the subtle sound of the player is really nice and soothing by the fire."

Cari's brick-red floating living room fireplace makes a beautiful focal point, but she admits it's not quite her style. "I'm very drawn to white. If it were up to me, that fireplace would even be white," she says. "It feels really fresh and clean." Needless to say, it's a welcoming element when she entertains, one of her favorite hobbies. "I entertain all the time," she says. "I have a whole blog about entertaining; all my parties are on there." When she's not playing consummate host, she's cooking and baking. "On weekends, I love to spend an entire day in the kitchen." Open, and overlooking the living area and that cozy red fireplace, it's the ultimate place to be.
