Why It Works: @OscarPRGirl's Bright, Glamorous Living Room

It was love at first sight when we first glimpsed the bright and breezy Southampton weekend retreat of Oscar de la Renta's gorgeous PR exec Erika Bearman, best known in the social media realm as @OscarPRGirl. Designed by Miles Redd, the space epitomizes carefree glamour galore, and it's not a hint shy. With a deeper look, we realized there are a number of things about this room that are totally dead-on. Read below to find out how you can replicate the genius._1We're not ones to shy away from color, but that said, bold colors need to be tempered. Redd balanced the fearless hue of Bearman's Benjamin Moore Impervo Very Green walls with a neutral natural fiber rug and subtle furniture. The toned-down pieces not only soften the space, they also put all eyes on those incredible walls -- as they should be. _2There's no hard-and-fast rule that all artwork should be hung in a straight line, horizontally, or vertically. One of the great success of this space is that Bearman's artwork is hung at different heights and depths along the wall -- the eclecticism of this look is a perfect fit for her adventurous style and bold walls.

_3Black and white are a timeless pairing that will truly never go out of style. Sprinkling in these monochrome colors will give your room a classical aesthetic, allowing you to be more on-trend or ironic with small accessories, such as a bright tray or chintz-y throw pillows. _5Your home, especially a weekend treat, should make you smile and laugh. With its red conical rice hat topping a vintage bust and a Damien Hirst pop art painting, Bearman's space does just that. Integrate a few moments of playfulness here and there in your home to lighten the mood.

_6One trick for making your home feel larger than it is is to match your window trim and panes to your wall color. While contrasting trim does a fine job of celebrating your home's architecture, it also delineates the space, which can be visually choppy, especially if you have multiple windows. _lastWhen shopping for sofas, many of us tend to go straight for a three-seat sofa, but sometimes an L-shaped sofa or sectional is a better option. In this case, a three-seat sofa might would have looked off with a single window on one side -- instead, it's cozied up under two windows, offering a wonderful view to the outdoors.

_7Any living room with a bar in it gets an A-okay in our book, but this one gets an extra gold star because it's placed right in the line of traffic, making it easily accessible to anyone who walks in the room. Better yet, it has closed storage, so less frequently used bottles don't need to be left out in the open. _8

With a sofa in the corner in the room, framed tightly by a bar and a small garden stool, there's not much room for floor or table lamps. Redd expertly hung wall sconces within arm's reach of the sofa, so the lighting doesn't hog prime tabletop surfaces.
