In case you are curious about what's in store this holiday season, at least trend-wise, Pinterest just unveiled their full 2019 Holiday Report, highlighting all of the top trending Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali, and Kwanza ideas.
First of all, more people than ever are shopping for holiday décor. Searches for Hanukkah décor are up 210 percent, while searches for décor for Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, which falls on October 27 this year, have increased over 50 percent. Tons of people are also shopping for unconventional Christmas décor and small Christmas trees. Another fun holiday idea? Apparently Sunflower Christmas trees will be all the rage this year, according to a surge in searches.
Pinners are also already planning what to bring to all their holiday potlucks. This year’s top contenders are Broccoli cheese balls, Bacon wrapped jalapeño cream cheese, and Rotel dip with cream cheese. Um, yum. But whatever you choose, make sure you serve them in festive fashion
You might not know this, but apparently cheesecake is one of the most popular desserts of the year. Searches are up 4,042 percent (yes thousand) for Butter pecan cheesecake recipe and up 2,772 percent for Peach cobbler cheesecake. Caramel apple cheesecake and Churro cheesecake bars are also being heavily searched.
Obviously, people are looking for inspiration for their family holiday photos as well, ranging from funny pictures to photo booth ideas for holiday parties. And what better way to share those photos than with custom holiday cards?
‘Tis the season to get creative! A lot of people are shying away from store bought gifts and opting to make their own. For example, handmade scented candle searches are up nearly 500 percent. Homemade gift baskets and sustainable gifts are going to be big this year as well.
And don’t overlook the value of a self-care gift. Whether you are shopping for your mother, coworker, or even yourself, an hour or full day of pampering can go a long way. Self-care and wellness gift searches are on the rise, and the holidays are the perfect excuse to help your loved ones unwind.
