When it comes to hair, genetics pretty much seal your fate. But as Vogue reports, there are a few factors within your control that can help you achieve long, strong hair—with diet being one of them.
"The healthiest diet for your hair is the healthiest diet in general—one that is based on real, whole foods and [is] mostly plant-based,” said Manhattan-based nutritionist Maria Marlowe to the magazine. She specifies that foods rich in iron, zinc, vitamin C, B vitamins, and omega-3s are best for your hair.
In other words, you should load up on oysters, clams, beans, and eggs to get your protein, which Marlowe calls the "building block" of great hair. Other beneficial foods include bell peppers, leafy greens for vitamin C, hemp seeds, and wild-caught salmon for omega 3s.
