If you're dealing with less-than-perfect vibes at home, you might be feeling like you're not at peace in your space. Thankfully, from practices of feng shui to Reiki, there are plenty of ways to improve the mood in all rooms—but it's helpful to start with your bedroom. After all, it's where most of your relaxation takes place. But can your personal space really influence your mood?
We asked Reiki master healer Jenna Finley to discuss all things root chakra-related and answer the question once and for all. When you're looking to feel balanced, fresh, and in line with all chakras, it may be time to change up the items you keep close at night. Finley emphasizes the power of setting subtle cues throughout a room as reminders of how to feel and think.
"Every time you look around a space, you get subconscious messages," says Finley. "Everything on the planet needs to be replenished and cleared in some way. The ocean is continually withdrawing and reshaping itself. All things in nature reach an apex, experience birth, death, and renewal. That’s the way energy is. Sometimes it needs to be cleared and released."
Below, read on to learn Finley's picks for reiki gifts, meditation tools, and relaxing supplies that will improve your mindset throughout your home.
Izola Sandalwood Candle
Establish a daily or nightly routine to call in positive energy. “Any ritual you create is valuable; it can be as simple as lighting a candle," says Finley. "Sandalwood is a sacred tree, the oil of which vibrates to the first and fourth chakras. It is extremely grounding and generates openness and healing to the heart space.”
Mexican Yoga Blanket
“When you are wanting to call in or access sacred energy, the first thing you want to do is declare a sacred space," says Finley. "An easy way to do that is to set the boundary with a meditation blanket, with the intention that the four corners of the blanket are the boundaries of the space.” Choose a blanket that makes you feel comfortable for those moments when you're ready to relax into meditation.
Meditation Cushion
“Creating a sacred space is as simple as declaring that a certain area has meaning,” says Finley. If you have a daily meditation practice, meditate in the same spot each day. “With an established routine, you’ll come to associate the area itself with feelings of peace and well-being.”
Sodalite Votive Candle Holder
“The heart chakra is like the engine of the car. If you want a quick result, get some rose quartz,” says Finley. Crystals are known for holding and magnifying certain vibrations. “The simplest way to program a crystal is to sage it first, then sit in meditation and generate the feeling or the thought that you want the crystal to hold. Hold onto the stone and feel what you want to feel. The crystal will retain the vibration.”
White Sage Smudge Bundle
Sage has a cleansing effect on negative vibes in a space. Think of smudging your home as hitting the reset button: “If you are experiencing a persistent emotion that won’t clear, something effective would be to sage your personal space, sage yourself, and then sage your stones,” says Finley.

Power Animal Artwork
Finley suggests layering your room with subconscious cues to trigger happy, positive thoughts, including a personal totem or power animal: “A power animal is a spiritual companion. They work well with Reiki and shamanic healing, offering unique insights and gifts to the spiritual journey.”
The Alchemist Book
“This is one of my favorite books. It is an incredible work of fiction that is wildly accurate on energy healing,” said Finley. To quote the author, Paulo Coelho, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Keeping items like inspirational books in your home can help remind you of their important messages when you need them—and The Alchemist is all about listening to your heart to channel that energy in all spaces of your life.
Tibetan Singing Bowl
Each Tibetan bowl is designed to vibrate to a different chakra. The mere act of listening to these ancient instruments is said to be deeply relaxing and meditative. “Tibetan bowl songs can reduce stress, increase blood flow, and lower your heart rate," says Finley. "They are also great for establishing a ritual toward opening and closing any sacred space. When you enter and exit the space, have a routine—even if it is very simple, like lighting a candle or ringing a bell.”
Incense
“I like all the elements to be represented surrounding meditation,” said Finley. Incense is thought to naturally lift the spirits and raise positive vibrations. The burning of incense often accompanies prayers and invocation. Choose a scent specific to your meditation goal: If you’re looking to attract more positive things into your life, opt for patchouli. Fragrant lavender and rose are great for stress relief.
Ink Wash Feather Print
“Feathers are representative of accentuation and the connection to the divine,” said Finley. Try peppering in some feather-themed décor for an added daily boost. Include them in your home through wall art, or style fresh feathers in a vase throughout different rooms to keep the vibe cohesive in your space.
Thieves Essential Oil
“Sage, saltwater or running water, moonlight, sunlight, and Thieves oil are all valuable for clearing [energy],” said Finley. Naturally antiviral and antibacterial, Thieves oil is great to have on hand when you are feeling overworked or stressed. “Run a few drops on the bottom of your feet if you feel rundown; it will knock out any germs and reduce stress.”
Palo Santo Wood Bundle
A mystical tree indigenous to South America, palo santo means “holy wood” in Spanish. “Palo santo is energy clearing; it generates the third-eye awakening, and it is a sacred tree,” says Finley. Bonus: It smells fantastic and keeps mosquitos away. To light your palo santo wood, hold the stick at a 45-degree angle toward the flame. Once the tip ignites, let it burn for about 30 seconds to one minute, and then blow it out. Place it in a fireproof bowl and enjoy the healing aroma.
