If you want to escape the bustling city but aren’t quite ready to commit to the country life, Sag Harbor is the perfect balance of both. It’s this charming mix that attracted Farrin Cary and her husband, Sotheby’s International Realty associate broker Rylan Jacka. The stylish pair were looking for a home to raise their two daughters, and the quiet village offered “contemporary living without all the urban angst.”
The couple finally found the perfect home, but it needed work. So they made some modern modifications while retaining its 19th-century bones. “We didn’t want it to be just another Sag Harbor misty gray,” Cary told HC&G. “There’s no TV and no technology, but it’s so pleasant being in the heart of the home. The house is far more luxurious than one with no intention behind it. It really feels ‘on purpose.’” And that’s just how a family home should feel.
