Forget mimosas or martinis—herald the new season by mastering these lip-smacking spring cocktails.
The Hero Ingredient: Fennel. The herb gives this unique cocktail an interesting flavor twist.
The Recipe: Blend the cucumber then add lime juice, apple cider vinegar, ice, fresh fennel, and gin if preferred. Blend until foamy, and then divide into two glasses and top with club soda or ginger ale and frozen blueberries. Garnish with fresh fennel.
The Hero Ingredient: Cinnamon. Two cinnamon sticks in Donn's Mix give this cocktail a touch of spice.
The Recipe: Follow the steps to create Donn's Mix, and then add all the ingredients except mint in a blender with ice. Blend until smooth and then pour into glasses and garnish with mint.
The Hero Ingredient: Grapefruit. The freshly squeezed juice offsets the tang of tequila.
The Recipe: Rim the glass with vanilla salt and grapefruit. Then, put the tequila, Lillet, grapefruit juice, orgeat, and bitters in a cocktail shaker, add ice, and shake. Strain and serve.
The Hero Ingredient: Strawberry. Change up your usual margarita mix with this thirst-quenching variation.
The Recipe: Blend the strawberries with simple syrup and combine with lime juice, orange liqueur, and tequila. Add more simple syrup if needed. Shake or stir with ice, and garnish with a lime wedge.
The Hero Ingredient: Peach. The fruit pairs perfectly with bourbon to make a surprisingly refreshing spring tipple.
The Recipe: Muddle the herbs and lemon; then add the jam, honey, and bourbon, and stir. Add ice; then shake hard, and strain into a glass.
