While we don't have the luxury of summer break as adults, life definitely takes on a different tone come September. Summer Fridays are over, the weather starts to turn colder, and the self-indulgent mentality that defines June through August begins to wane along with the temperatures.
As The Zoe Report writes, the ninth month of the year even has a "second-chance January" vibe to it, as we regroup and refocus both at work and at home. They quote The Happiness Project author Gretchen Rubin, who writes that "January is the official start of the new year, and I always get a burst of renewed zeal at that time, but September also gives the same feeling of an empty calendar and a clean slate. The air seems charged with possibility and renewal."
Rather than begrudgingly moving into the fall season and desperately clinging to any last shred of summer, the more professionally minded among us embrace the turn of the season and see it as an opportunity to make positive changes. Below read up on what the publication considers to be its September refresh checklist, and add the following seven things to your to-do list:
1. Build a vision board for the coming year.
2. Set new goals for the end of the year.
3. Write down your new goals, and create a road map.
4. Book your holiday travel.
5. See all your doctors.
6. Evaluate your finances.
7. Reconnect with your professional network
