Video streaming site Netflix set the parental trend earlier this year when it announced its unlimited paid maternity and paternity leave for all full-time employees. Several companies have followed suit since with their mom-friendly policies and generous parental leave programs. Now Jessica Alba, actress and co-founder of The Honest Co., has made the announcement that it too will offer 16 weeks’ paid leave for all new parents from January 2016. The policy includes both men and women and adds an additional six weeks to their existing 10-week parental leave program. The mother of two revealed the company news at a recent Salesforce Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. “You need to take that time also to bond with your baby; it’s also important for men to bond with their babies,” she said.
