>In promotion of her latest film, Sisters, Hollywood’s leading funny lady, Tina Fey, sat down with Working Mother for a candid chat. In the interview, she discusses what it’s like to work with her on-screen sister, Amy Poehler; shares the secret of being a successful comedic actress; and talks about what it’s like to be a working mom in Hollywood. Now that she’s no longer writing and starring in 30 Rock, she’s found it easier to balance her work and personal life. The mother of two girls (Alice, 10, and Penelope, 4) said, “It's much easier now that I'm no longer doing 30 Rock. A series like that is a huge time commitment, and now I have much more time to write and also spend time at home with my family.”
>Another thing that makes managing her time less challenging? The fact that her kids are no longer toddlers. “My children are getting older and that also helps, although I still wonder what their teenage years will be like!” Fey also acknowledges that she couldn’t raise her girls without the help of her longtime husband, composer Jeff Richmond. “My daughters are such a joy for me, and my husband is very good at looking after them if I have to work late or I'm exhausted and I just need to crawl into the sofa for an hour or hide in the basement.” Like many busy moms, her favorite time of day is when she’s able to spend it with both of her daughters, namely “when my eldest gets home from school. If I've been writing a lot or on the phone, it just makes everything so much more pleasant. I'm so grateful to have a wonderful family around me. It makes it all worthwhile.”
