IKEA hacks are usually the handiwork of crafty bloggers and DIY fans, but today, IKEA announced it's going to launch its very own hack. Enter Delaktig, a new modular product that is designed to be customized according to the user's needs. It can be used as a daybed, sofa, or chaise, and the aluminum frame allows for clip-on furniture additions like side tables and privacy screens.

This new "hackable" product is the work of one of the world's top designers, Tom Dixon, who says this project signals a shift toward sustainable design. "Delaktig is an experiment that challenges the conventional methods of creation and distribution of furniture and explores the notions of adaptability and future-proofing," he told Dezeen. He hopes that users will continue to transform the basic frame as their needs change with time.

Swedish textile company Bemz has also announced they'll be part of the collaboration. The brand will release a collection of textile covers designed exclusively for the Delaktig "living platform" to encourage users to transform the product and make it their own.

IKEA's first customizable product will be available in-store from February 2018. The brand is set to release more images of the collaboration during Milan Design Week.

How would you use IKEA's Delaktig sofa at home?
