Vanessa Hudgens' $3.9M Studio City Home Belongs in the Mediterranean

Actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens has said goodbye to her luxurious Studio City home in California. The multihyphenate listed the property for $3.9 million, according to Realtor.com and it sold in 2019—Hudgens originally bought the home for $2.75 million back in 2008. Now, she's moving on to a home in Los Feliz, Los Angeles which she purchased from Oscar-winner Gary Oldman.

Although the actress's former property looks like it belongs somewhere tucked away in the Mediterranean, it's situated in the L.A. entertainment hub of Studio City. It's a six-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom estate spanning around 5,200 square feet. While it wasn't exactly a fixer-upper when Hudgens moved in over ten years ago, she did make a few changes to the home during her time there. She repainted the exterior of the house in a bright white hue and added elements inspired by Moorish design like Moroccan lamps, for instance.

From the exterior, Hudgen's home could pass for a Mediterranean mansion with its stark white paint color, curved staircase, arched window features, and balconies. There's also plenty of fresh greenery, including tall trees, crawling vines, and wild hedges. It's begging you to go inside.

The bright and airy living room features both contemporary and more traditional elements. A pair of tomato red armchairs frame the space in front of beautiful tall glass doors that open up onto a grassy lawn. On top of the rustic, hardwood floors is a patterned rug in a neutral shade of beige to add warmth to the room. While the long white sofa feels modern and fresh, it's flanked by statuesque table lamps that look antique and hand-crafted. Along with the floor-to-ceiling doors, two large rectangular mirrors work to make the space feel expansive.

In the kitchen, you'll find numerous noteworthy elements. First, a pewter green shade of paint coats the cabinetry, contrasting with additional upper cabinets painted in a traditional white color. Diverging from the hardwood floors found in other spaces on the property, the kitchen floor features tile in a terra cotta shade of burnt orange, which only adds to the Mediterranean feel of the home. There are also dark granite countertops on both the main counters and the lagoon-shaped kitchen island. Paired with coffered ceilings and other stone elements, the space feels decidedly European.

This large primary bedroom is divided by a strong wall that features a roaring fireplace surrounded by intricate tile work. The divider works to separate the sleeping area from an additional seating area complete with an arched window that offers an unbelievable view of the city below. Outfitted with a cowhide rug, a chaise longue, rustic vessels, and a potted tree, it's an ideal reading nook for winding down before bed or the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee before taking on the day ahead. 

From this unique perspective, you can catch a glimpse of the luxurious formal dining room. The star of this space has to be the glowing brass ceiling from which a Moroccan-inspired pendant lamp hangs. Although the room feels glamorous and almost traditional, the actual dining table and chairs are distinctly modern. Just look at how the light tan of the chairs contrasts with the rich chocolate table and framework, not to mention the modern shape of the pieces.

Out on one of the property's multiple balconies, you can take in views of both the lush canyon and the metropolitan city. Even this small outdoor space has been decorated to fit in with the rest of the home's stylish décor. It features wicker chairs topped with cushions that sit on top of a large square-tiled floor. Arched columns and a Moroccan hanging lantern contribute to the Mediterranean décor that's so prominently featured throughout the home.

Finally, the backyard was made for hosting lavish outdoor events. It features an irregularly shaped swimming pool and spa surrounded by natural-looking stone. There's even room for multiple lounge chairs to line the pool, offering a sunny spot to relax and soak up the sunshine. With carefully strung lights, plentiful botanicals, a shaded seating area, and a full view of the home's breathtaking architecture, the backyard looks like something out of a European resort.
