We turn to interior designer experts to predict the biggest trends of the season, but when it comes to which items will actually end up in your home, the power rests in the hands of leading retailers. And if there's one brand we trust to interpret the leading trends, it's West Elm.
Poised to launch their spring 2017 collection on December 23, West Elm has released the first images of the new line, offering a few hints about the trends that will be huge in the New Year. Think muted colors, curved furniture, and cool geometric lighting—themes that pair effortlessly with the items you've already started to invest in this season.
Yes, winter has barely hit, but if West Elm's new line is any indication of what's to come, we can't wait for spring 2017.
Dubbed "the new modern," this collection reflects the shape of things to come for West Elm. According to the catalog, "the new modern is cleaner, lighter, and more refined while still evoking an organic, open, and friendly feel," reflected in soft furniture with a curved silhouette.
"Spring is the season to truly embrace nature and all it has to offer. Open your home to the outdoors with natural materials, palettes, and textures as depicted through our 'pure' story," the catalog reads. Wooden midcentury modern furniture is paired perfectly with hanging planters and organically shaped vases.
Muted colors reign supreme in the new collection. The Orb and Luna Chairs are set to be new favorites, available in multiple colors and materials.
Brass and wood continue to dominate the spring 2017 line, this time via brass drawer pulls and detailed finishes.
"We love playing with clean geometric forms," says Johanna Uurasjarvi, Creative Director at West Elm.
