As for why certain people are more apt to stay up late or hit the snooze button than others, the article explains that each cell in our body is controlled by mini-internal body clocks, which condition when we feel the need to go to bed or wake up. Most people have neutral internal clocks (following regular sleeping schedules), but a small percentage of people find themselves on the extreme end of either being a night owl or late-riser, which is just in their nature. The problem here is that fighting your internal clock, or forcing yourself to sleep or wake up, can have major health consequences and can leave you in perpetual daze. If you must stick to a schedule that goes against your natural instincts, the best way to adjust is by practicing good sleep hygiene in turning off all glaring screens, sticking to a consistent bedtime, and exercising during the day.
The bottom line? Habitual snooze-button hitters now have a legitimate excuse. Can't fight genetics.
