Many of us dream of traveling the world, but few of us would even consider taking on every country. But one 27-year-old from Connecticut is doing exactly that—and breaking records along the way.
Starting with Palau in July 2015, Cassandra De Pecol has visited a whopping 181 countries; that makes her only 15 countries short of seeing them all. If she completes her journey within the next 40 days, she'll have broken the Guinness World Record for the fastest person to travel to all sovereign states, not to mention an additional 11 countries.
De Pecol has named her impressive venture Expedition 196 and is traveling as an Ambassador for Peace on behalf of the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism. While the cost of her trip tallies at over $200,000—including transport, food, accommodation, visas, insurance, vaccinations, and travel supplies—it has been covered by sponsors.
