The Summer Work Jackets a Fashion Editor Swears By for a Polished Look

When the summer heat gets real in New York City, it can be tempting to throw out all the workwear we own in favor of flowy dresses and barely there tops. The temperature can get so oppressive in summer months that it's difficult to maintain a level of professionalism in our work outfits. But here's one little trick that can help elevate basically any summer dress, going-out top, or flowy skirt: Just add a lightweight jacket. But finding the right women's work jackets to fit every outfit in your wardrobe is no easy task.

"When I look for a work jacket, I definitely want something that feels tailored and polished," says Who What Wear fashion market editor Nicole Akhtarzad. "At the same time, comfort is key since you'll be wearing it all day and, of course, trying to actually work in it. In the warmer months, that means a lightweight material and something that's not too form-fitting so that it works both on my walk to the office but also at my desk under the AC unit!"
