If crossing the threshold of the new 1 World Trade Center isn't already surreal enough, there's news of a special surprise coming to the service elevators that travel 47 seconds to the building's pinnacle, One World Observatory (opening May 29). Projected onto three walls of the elevator cabs will be a three-dimensional time-lapse panorama installation chronicling 515 years of Manhattan history, with all of the familiar (and not so familiar) landmarks in attendance. Watch this video from The New York Times now to get a preview.
