Over the course of thirty years, from 1970 to 2000, designer Yves Saint Laurent created and sent to friends and family a series of colorful, whimsically graphic cards to ring in each New Year. Though not actually Valentine's Day cards, their overarching theme is, without a doubt, love. Each card's unique style reflects the designer's evolving aesthetic, while recurring elements on the cards are things cherished by the designer: his bulldog Moujik, the sun and palm trees of his native Algeria, for example.
A collection of the hand-crafted designer collages are being compiled in a new French tome, called Love by Saint Laurent, with an American release to follow. Get in the mood for love by scrolling below, then head to Vogue to see more!
