Zimmermann is slowly taking over the world, one new store launch at a time. The Australian fashion brand has been quietly expanding into the US with stores located in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and now San Francisco.
San Fran is California’s new fashion, art and design hub—as well as being the tech capital of the world—which is just one of the reasons why Zimmermann’s creative director and co-founder Nicky Zimmermann was drawn to the location.
The store is located in Jackson Square, San Francisco’s fashion and design destination, and Zimmermann says she already feels very much at home, “Jackson Square is always a go-to destination for us when we’re in town, so when an opportunity came up to open our first store in San Francisco, it just felt right.”
The store itself feels like a minimalist island villa, with white walls and light furniture that compliments Zimmermann’s aesthetic. The space hosts custom metalwork, classic furniture and art deco accents to create a calm, light atmosphere where customers can shop in a peaceful environment.
One of the most eye-catching elements of the store would have to be the 1976 vintage table lamps by Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce, which not only look decadent, but also provide soft light to the already airy space.
Each room has enough natural light to make the store feel open and fresh and the space—formerly an art gallery—doesn’t feel congested, thanks to the marvelously high ceilings.
Zimmermann is a brand that prides itself on its Australian roots and refined designs and with the help of architect Don McQualter, those principles have been injected into its new San Francisco space.
